After my recent adventure with a $1,000 bag of halves (short $200 --- bank fixed it), I wasn't sure they would sell me any more bags. Well, I'm still on their favorite list, and got a $500 bag of dimes this morning before we head out on a our family trip for Labor Day (puts a crunch on my Saturday CRH.... Oh well).

Very happy with the results:

5 Silver Roosevelts and.....

A nice 1941 Merc! It's been over two years since I've scored a Merc. Very nice.

Also got a weird clad -- see pic, that looks like it wasn't struck right. Looks the same on the back, just kinda fades away at the edge. Anyone have any insight?

HH to all and have a nice Labor Day weekend.

Nice amount of dimes. HH!

Does the clad dime have reeding? If not, or if it has partial reeding it could be a broadstrike or partial collar. It could also just be damaged or a poor quality strike.

Could it also possibly be struck through grease or something similar?

Struck through grease would obliterate or weaken parts of the design (causing things like missing letters in the legends) rather than giving it an odd rim like that.

Numi,
Nice score on those dimes. You ceratinly have found a lot lately.
Keep at it.

Thanks for the ideas. That's along the lines of what I was thinking. Will have to double check the edge to see if it is entirely reeded. It does have some reeding on it...

I think it's most likely just a bad strike.
