I recently purchased the Equinox 800, as I wanted a machine that would perform well on saltwater beaches. I had tried the beaches a couple times with my AT Pro, which I love, but with only limited success. Anxious to try the Equinox, I took my birthday off from work on Friday and hit a beach near the Cape for a couple hours. There had been heavy winds the day before, so I was hopeful. However, I was having very little luck at first, as I am not proficient with this machine and had no beach experience with it. After about a half hour, I figured things out and started getting good tones in one particular area. In fact, in just about every swing I was getting a VDI of 20 or higher. Working a 25 by 25 foot area for about an hour and a half, I dug 45 coins, a Roger Williams Park Carousel Village token, and a vintage(?) flower-themed ring. Looking through the coins when I got home, I was happy to see a 1934 Mercury, a 1929 Wheat, and a 195? Wheat. Also, I saw the ring was stamped .925, which I believe means sterling silver. Overall, I was very happy with how the Equinox 800 performed on the beach, and look forward to going back, as I only did a small area. I still like the AT Pro and felt like I was betraying my best friend by using the Nox, but there really was no comparison on the beach. Next time at the beach, I am going to focus mainly on the lower tones. Happy hunting.
