First beach silver quarters and Giant's gold ring
Made it to closer to home beach Wednesday after work. Third target was my first silver quarter from a beach (42). Then an hour later I pull my second from the wet sand slope (60). Was clad everywhere $20 in 3hrs of detecting. 50 quarters. 2 wheats too.
Then this morning went into the OC to chase the south swells (sorry to intrude on your turf OC crew) Hit the beach at 3:30am. To my surprise the beach I hit had no cuts or noticeable erosion from the huge waves. First 30minutes nothing but two tiny (0.7gram each) fresh drop silver toe rings. A few coins. Maybe this is why I never saw another detector which was odd with all the hype. Kept scouting for steeper slope and pockets and finally found one. Started getting coins. Then a ring in the scoop. Not just any ring, a ring that would fit a giant. Size 15-1/2 7.3 g 14K. I am not a small guy(6'2") and this thing fits on my thumb. photo shows a quarter can fit inside this ring. When I got home went through the clad (dark at beach so don't know what it was other than a coin) and ended up with my third silver quarter (42) and a 5? silver rosie. Ended up with $10 in clad. I am over $53 in clad and 6 silver coins since Sunday morning. Been averaging 100 usable coins each outing (tossing another 15-30 crusty zinclons not in the count) Also this morning I found a brass military medal (I assume). Will have to look it up. Anyone know what it is? Even had a 38 special live round and a rifle bullet found this morning along with usual fishing wts and lures.
