Got permission from my great aunt to hunt her yard. My grandfather grew up in the house which was previously a 1 room schoolhouse. I have to find out exactly how old, but probably mid 1800's. I was glad to find some stuff that belonged to my family at one time. I will be going back soon, still have alot of ground to cover, some of which is still frozen! I know there is older stuff to find.

Anyone have any thoughts on what the HM D2 tag would have been from? The M is interesting because Manchester is our family name....

I would say the copper is probably a large cent ???? Cant make anything out

Thanks for looking

You had a fantastic day out there. Looks like you have a good spot to dig at all summer, with that much silver there's got to be some more there. Congratulations.

Cool finds and history. That quarter was probably hit by a lawnmower.

WTG always fun to hunt those older yards, good silver!

An excellent site! Congrats on that Walker; there's nothing like the shine of big silver in the hole.

Nice job on the Walking liberty half dollar!!!

That H. M. tag looks to be a tool room check out tag. A person worked at a big plant of some kind. When he needed a special tool he would go to the tool room and ask for it. It would be handed to him in exchange for a tag. The tag would go on the bin or board where the tool is kept and would stay there until the tool came back. The person gave the tool back to the tool crib person and got his tag back till he needed another special tool.

Could be if you did a little genealogy or just asked your grandmother to tell you who lived in her house that had your last name and who's first name started with "H". You may just find out who it belonged to and where he worked.

sweet day out. looks like some tried that quarter and decided it wasn't food...

That sounds like a good possibility! I will have to do a little research on my family geneology!!
