We've been very fortunate this year weather wise down here in NM, cold at night, but warming up to the mid 50's during the day. I've been real lucky the first 3 days of 2018 and have scored either silver jewelry or silver coins. My luck would continue again today as I hit a big piece of silver. I went back to the zoo again today where I was able to score a rosie and merc yesterday. Things didn't start off to great and on top of that, I was feeling 100%. Wasted 3 hours digging clad and crap and decided to head to a part of the zoo I've avoided due to extremely hard ground. The zoo master (director) has allowed me to bring my Lesche shovel onto the zoo grounds, as matter of fact, he recommends places for me to try
So, off I go, half in the mood already thinking about heading home. The first 3 signal are wheats, that perked my attention up, then I get another 12-44 11-43 hit on the CTX, clear as day both directions. I'm thinking another wheat, at the 7" mark, I pop out a large grey disc. At first, I'm thinking a Mexican 20 Centavo, quite common around here. I can't make out the coin at first, flip it over and bingo, Barber!! Man, what a rush seeing big ole silver this soon into a new season. I kissed it on the rim
but not too bad. Barbers are a very rare treat in my neck of the woods, much less a half!! Anyway, got my half off my list for the year, time for my seated now. Thanks for looking.
