Hey all!

Back at the old farmhouse, I think I FINALLY dug my first colonial British large copper. Maybe a KGI or KGII or something like that? It's really slick, really smooth and worn, but I can barely make out shape of some dude facing left, and there's a bump at the top of his forehead that looks like it would've been a wreath.

The back is totally toasted, but I can see the line across the bottom that would separate the date. Too bad I can't make it out, but maybe someone will help me with identifying the king so I can at least get a date range?

Man, these coins are so much darker than large cents. And they sound different when you drop them on a table. :)

I also found what I thought was my first musket ball, but looks more like a lead net weight or something else. Also this weird toothed thing, and what looks sorta like a bale seal. Maybe...

As always, thanks for any help in advance!

Nice finds ! I think your toothed thing is the head of an old razor------th razor.webp

Congratualtions on the relics and coin hunt! :occasion14:

Can't help you with a positive ID, but I can see the details that you mention. I would agree that most likely its a KG I or II.
Congrats! I always find that British coppers have lower VDI's than US coppers? What machine are you swinging, and what VDI did you get?

Congrats on your finds! I can get behind a KG II, though depending on where you're hunting it could be a Connecticut copper; tough to say in that condition. The LC looks like a classic head cent to me, again hard to say but if so a much less frequent recovery. Well done on both!

The large piece with a hole in it is an ox knob, which prevented goring. Looks like it may have threads, if not the early ones I've found lacked threads and used a leather gasket. They are among my favorite agricultural relics. : )

I'm swinging the AT PRO, standard coil. It rang up as a solid 87-89, from every direction. Was hoping for some old silver, but I'll still take it!

I wish it were a classic head! Those look so cool and I haven't dug one yet (beautiful coin). But those are missing a few stars over lady liberty's head, and mine has stars all across the top. Here's an example of what I mean:

Great ID on the ox knob! It has some scratched on the inside, but no threads. It's probably very old, the house was built in 1679.

Nice finds .maybe queen Victoria ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1502029026.712837.webp

George II looks right to me.

Nice old finds! My vote is in for a KGII, matron head lc, and a V Nickel (don't know what a nickle is).

Nice KG2. Congrats
