Picked up my first box of halves today at my regular bank. I expected to have to order some but they already had some, and they appear to be somebody's dump. I only had time to go through a few rolls, but the teller said that somebody had dropped off almost $1000 worth, so I can do the math. Looks like I'll have to find a different pick-up bank AND a different place to dump halves for a while since they'd probably wonder why I'd pick up so many just to bring them back to the same place. They also have by far the longest lines of all the banks I've been in so far.

Also found $26 in loose halves at a credit union. The teller was very curious about them; why some had a different reverse, what people do with them, why you don't see them very often... Fortunately, she didn't ask why four of them were a completely different color than the rest!

So the score today is 4x40% out of $526 in halves (plus the slim chance there are any left in the box).

There are also a couple early 70s mintages that are kinda an odd color. Where there any special sets those years that I should be looking out for?

It really burns me when halves are turned back in the same box. At the point of having $1000 worth find a bank that takes bags and go that route. It's a real drag going through a whole box of dumps, Sorry but it happens more often than not. Congrats on the 40%s.

Not any special sets. Throw em back!
