Detector(s) used
Treasure baron with Goldtrax
After testing my new detector for a couple of days I thought it was time to take it out in to the field. The picture is of all the things I found.

Testing the machine I decided to give it a hard test an iron infested beach with hotrocks/black sand.

It didn't disappoint not one hot rock registered going on to wet sand It started to false one flick of a switch later it was fine on full sensitivity.

Every now and then I heard the detector nulling countless hot rocks /iron didn't find a great deal one 1946 half penny fishing hooks etc.

Then it was on to the woodchips here I got to work with the settings I set the iron reject to off and still it warned me by flashing an red led but I dug anyway just to see it was working not once was it wrong my deepest find was around 7inch's whilst on the beach found a metal bar around 14inch's down.

Going to test next in the woods I will keep you informed

For your first outing looks like you are doing pretty good and learning your detector settings also.
A great post!!!!!
Happy detecting!!! :)

Maybe you will do as your screen name implies...I hope so! Great to see some of your finds...keep 'em coming!

strike it rich,

It caught my eye when I saw your post on the Treasure Baron, it's a fine detector. If I remember correctly George Payne (Teknetics) designed the original one. Pls. make some additional posts when you have made some further tests.
What other detectors do you use? Joe

Thanks for you reply. You are correct George Payne did design the original before I purchased the detector research was important it seemed to imply that the treasure Baron range was under rated and highly respected by the people that use them and most importantly for myself offered great performance both on the beach an inland it has fixed GB and a preset mode for the beach it can also be set up for manual GB (thanks sandman for the GB advice)*.

I found the presets were all I needed for the beach searching. The beach from hell I call it blacksand hotrocks heavy iron infestation this detector handled the lot with ease.

The pinpoint mode is non motion with iron indentfication via a bright red led whilst in motion mode no sound output unless you want it. Two tones high and low.

The depth I find to be around the 7-8 inch's on a quarter sized coin. As for being sensitive this thing rocks does it live up to the users reviews I found not only upto but past it.

The combinations for the key pad take a little learning and there are a lot of features Ive not even touched on or used this will take time.

When Ive been using this model I will write a full review of all its features.

At the moment I just using this model after buying a few other cheap chinese models this is a world away form them prob getting a sov gt with 15 inch wot late this year.

*for the sake of not confusing things sandman didn't offer advice about this specific model but gave me advice about GB in general

strike it rich,

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. I think you are doing the wise thing to use the presets until you get familiar with the detector. I didn't see where Sandman helped you with the GB but he knows his detectors so I'm sure he gave you some good advise.
I would love to pick up a TB used so i could play with it but that's not going to happen, I don't think I have EVER seen one used. I'm a big fan of George Payne. He is a brillant electronics engineer and he has done so much for this hobby. I have a Teknetics/BH Big Bud Pro that George designed and it's an awesome machine, I've found thousands of dollars worth of coins and jewelry with it.
O.K. keep us posted on your adventures with the TB. Joe
