Been in and out of this hobby over the years. Started checking out this site over the long winter...kind of got me going again. Been using a Whites XLT for the last 15+ years and it has served me well. But starting to fear one day I'll get in the field and it won't work anymore. Picked up an AT Pro on advice from someone familiar with how I operate. Sat in the box for over a month...never wanted to take the time to "figure it out". Finally said the heck with it! Get it out in the field and you'll learn it. Here's my first day's finds...

Best find was a small change purse. Thought it was trash as it first appeared out of the hole. But then I noticed it was pliable. And rather lumpy. Pulled back the dirty flap and caught site of a number of coins including silver.
Purse contained a worn merc, a war nickel, and 12 wheat pennies ranging from 1910 to 1951. Merc was 1917. War nickel 1943-P.
Made several more finds and then took the AT Pro down to Lake Michigan to see what it could do on the beach. Well, no jewelry.
The only keeper target I found on the beach was the oldest coin I found today, an 1890 IHP.

Todays finds...
1890 IHP
1907 IHP
1907 Barber Dime
1917 Mercury Dime
1928 Mercury Dime
1943-P War Nickel
29 Wheatback Pennies
A religious medallion (silver? pewter?)
Harmonica reed
Ford hubcap (?)
Some nice marbles while digging.
I'd say the AT Pro did alright! I just might keep it.
