well after a couple of months of research I finally decided on what my new machine was going to be, I picked it up today and I got a really good deal on it. Like I said I did my home work and decided on the MXT cause it is simple to use and it was spot on, my fist afternoon at the school where I grew up. It is a old WPA 1930's school old rock walls and all the other stuff associated with an old school. I did not find any old silver or any rings but the machine was right on as fas as new coinage goes. The vdi numbers were very acurate and the depth on the machine is good I dug some newer dimes pretty deep. The closer to the school I got it got really trashy and it was hard going because of all the trash like 4 or 5 signals all trash in like a single sweep. I did not dig any pull tab signals I was only looking for coins. My first hour with my new machine and my new hobby yeilded the following.

5 clad dimes
1 clad quarter
1 bent penny.......all clad but I loved every minute of it. The MXT is a good machine and was a good buy!!! any help on the machine would help alot , but it is pretty easy to use, but any imput would be great. THANKS............

Congrats the new machine, I know I love mine! The more you use the more you will learn, it is fairly easy. They can be quite talkative but you do get used to it. If your ID says coin it most likely is and depth is right on I think. HH

Great finds first time out!!!!

I got a used MXT last fall, and absolutely LOVE it. My last new detector was from the early 90's, so the leap in technology was tremendous, to say the least.

Keep going out, and the older stuff will come. Don't give up on that old school. As a matter of fact, cleaning out some of those 'trash' signals might result in a silver coin or ten.............

Take care

Roger

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new detector, the MXT sounds like a great machine.

Congrats on your finds Okie! Love that MXT!

Nana ;)

Still learning mine also, just wish I had more time to hunt before winter

Good luck with your new MXT. I really like mine. It also works very well in the wet sand at the salt water beaches in salt mode.

Best of luck with your new machine.

Congrats on your new purchase. I love my MXT. It does make a lot of racket, but I have gotten used to it. Make sure that when you are in an area where you know that there is some good stuff to swing it real slow and listen for the slightest target. It is amazing the depth that you can get with it. I am really glad I got the MXT instead of the DFX. It is so easy that even a moron like me can figure it out.
Have fun!
