Back at my local park and hit my 1800's site and the newer site in the woods.

Here are the finds from the older site. A larger flat button with no shank or back mark, a round button wth no shank, 3 IHP's, 1864 Fatty, 1881 & 1890. (I had only ever found 2 IHP's until this weekend!) The one mystery item is the piece that looks like a copper pipe fitting cap. But it has a few details that seem to be a little too ornate for a simple cap.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498966260.663656.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498966273.099776.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498966286.567728.webp
Almost seems like it had a pine tree or star component on the end at one point.
Then hit the newer area.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498966386.091417.webp
I'm sure I have had my coil over many horse shoes, but I always discriminate out iron so I don't see these signals. Found this when digging my new nemesis, the dreaded shotgun shell end. 2 wheats, 1944 & 1956 help date this newer area. The coolest find here is the old farmers token. Found the pocket watch scattered down a slope, I've now found 4 plated ones like this in similar condition. The small buckle still has a nice chunk of leather intact also helping date this site.
Good luck out there!

..: NICE FINDS pa-dirt_nc-sand :..
Love the horse shoe!

The mystery piece is the top of a barrel tap. The blocked hole is where the key went in.

Grand finds, that token sure is pretty.

sweet haul, IHPs, a fatty to boot and then the token which is always super cool. barrel tap cool too. My wife still gets excited over horseshoe finds and we find plenty of them LOL.

that was good day for sure. the shotgun shell brass can be a blessing at times, they can be dated according to stamp on them.

Nice going on the IHs and the token is in great condition.

I know, I know, I know, dig it all, but I only have between 90 and 120 min per hunt available with my schedule. And this has to include drive time and for this site hiking time. Sometimes I do hunt in all metal just to find the concentrations of targets, but still don't dig iron 2 way signals...

Thanks! You are perfect with the mystery item ID. Here is a pic of the complete unit. I learn something new almost every hunt. Thx!!

I probably find 5 or 6 shotgun shell ends every hour in the woods. Some are deteriorated and look like a flat button or coin at first, then the let down. They are my new pull tab, which I rarely find in the old woods. Thx!

Thats a very nice token. Congrats on all of your finds.

I was just funning with ya' mate. I understand life and it's tendency to intrude on the things we really want to do. I actually do a bit of cherry picking on sights I may never go back to or have limited access to. You are doing fine. Keep on keepin' on brother.:hello:
