First Find

Well I finally had to scratch the detecting itch! I bought my metal detector in March before hurting my back and had surgery in April. I'm still supposed to be taking it easy, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try out detecting. After 15 minutes of walking I got a signal and dug up a clad dime. Sure it's not fancy, but it's my first find with my detector and I thought I'd share it. Now I need to lie down and take a nap because that took everything I had!

vhakra of Iowa, welcome to Tnet, Congratulations on your first find and welcome to your new hobby! The first find always brings a smile and more smiles will come say like with your first silver coin and other "firsts" that will be coming your way!

Do take care of the back, only a little swinging of the detector and then rest. At the moment recovering completely with a fully successful operative result will be The Best Find you can have for now and the future. I'm nursing a shoulder surgery now and I'm in my eighth week since the surgery and I slowly and carefully test myself to learn just what I can do that does not hurt, I'm off of pain pills. As soon as I have the slightest twinge of pain I reduce the exercise just enough to put me back into the comfortable zone but no 'quick' movements.

Congrats on your first find. I'm pretty new too. Two months into it. I am finding a good shovel to dig is much easier than on your knees and straining your back. But I am also getting into better shape doing this.
