I recently re-acquired permission to hunt a late 1700s house that I had been to numerous times with old machines (about 10 years ago).

Made a few trips there this summer and found around 10 IH's, V nickels, buffaloes, and mercs but nothing super old. Yesterday I got a faint signal in the front yard under a big tree and out popped this 1832 capped bust half dime. First capped coin, first half dime, and oldest U.S. silver for me! This thing is tiny!!!

Congratulations 👍
Was it difficult to retrieve because of the tree roots?

Thanks! No, it wasn't too bad. Luckily the roots weren't too large, I kind of had to dig from either side. But I got it eventually!

Congrats. What’s digging worth it! That’s my oldest coin also you got mine beat by 3 years. Awesome find!
