Yup. Now you'll remember that target ID and you'll dig every one like it and your heart will get pumping. It doesn't matter if it's a pull tab or fishing weight. Great find.

AWESOME! Gold is SO much fun to find. You can find melt values here:
Scrap Gold Weight Conversion and Melt Value Calculator

Just weigh it, and put in the weight.

Also, be aware that you can easily get 75% melt value selling it... Higher than that, and you'll have to do some looking. Selling to a refinery, you'll probably have a harder time, (they'll look higher on the return value, but you have to calculate shipping, refining costs, etc).

Basically, for a 10K ring of this size, I'd guess about $20 - $30 in melt value. $15-25 in sale value.

Some folks elect to sell finds like this for spot on craigslist... you might find that works, too. :)

Last thing, if you intend to keep it, you can polish the ring easily by putting a small rag around a drill bit (let it wrap slowly), then turn on the drill at high speed with some car wax on it... hold the ring against the polish/rag as it spins and slowly turn it. It'll buff out all the scratches and make that baby really glow. It'll look like new when you're done!

Cheers,

Skippy
