Hit the beach for a couple hours after work and took along the Excalibur II. This was the first time I've ever used it, and man is it going to take some getting used to! Coming from the Etrac, this thing is an entirely different animal. Tiny pieces of aluminum sound like chunky gold rings lol. Found about $5 in change (which sounds horrible on this machine...except for pennies and nickels) and my first gold ring with the excal. 14k and it has some weight to it! Looking forward to hitting the beaches again this week. I'll keep ya's posted!

Nice find RelicMedic. Thanks for sharing...

Congrats.

So... now that you found your first gold...

Do you remember the sound ?

:)

Be sure you use no discrimination, volume on max (volume is target volume only), try to hunt in manual sensitivity, adjusted to as hot as you can set it and still be stable. Threshold like tiny mosquito in your ear, if threshold is too loud it will drown out deep targets that are just a whisper as they bump the threshold. Anytime you get a null from iron target always rescan target from a 90 degree difference from original sweep, if there is another target there it will sound off along with the null.

Thanks guys. I remember the sound very clearly. The setting mentioned are exactly what I'm running. I'm sure I passed up several iffy signals, but as I get used to it, I'll be able to pick them out. It took some time for me to learn that with the Etrac, so I'm sure I'll get the hang of the excal before spring is over :)

Well said... Hear hear !

TH... you run full volume ?

I have to back it off my ears a little when vol max.
