Went back to the field where my son found the Union Officers buckle and I found the 1858 eagle cent. My dad and son both came along to . Since my son Nathan tends to find spectacular stuff in the first 10 minutes of hunting he was bored and following me around with the shovel after an hour of slow hunting . Got a mostly good penny to dime signal on the DFX and scraped a spot out of the weeds and corn stubble with my boot . Saw this little round thing off to the side of the clean area . Nathan said "is that a penny ?"
It was coated in crap but once I rubbed a bit off and saw the seated Liberty It confirmed my suspicion. Also found the back part of a 2 piece button and a few other things .
