Made it back to mossy shoe mansion for just an hour this afternoon. Mission to find a silver quarter here. Found 5 silver dimes and 20+ ihps and wheats so far, but no quarters at this really old farm house stone foundation. Another Rosie 56, 39 nickel and 2 more wheats were cleaned from today's hunt, then started going through the junk metal finds. Noticed something stamped on the metal disk and realized that i found my first SLQ and first hammered coin, just kidding. Here is a pic of the rest of the relics.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1486339319.930659.webp
The small toy gun is stamped "Mity Midget". Another piece of an old toy gun, a sprocket thingy and a chain. The chain is very light, thinking aluminum. Maybe it was plated originally.

Total of 7 silver coins at this site so far. Zero modern trash, but lots of rusty nails that ring up as silver...

Somebody really hated that quarter. Nice hunt

That's my favorite coin design so I think she is still beautiful.

That coin is Toasted LOL I would love to hun t a site like that just knowing every signal will be some thing old. Keep posting Ive been watching your progress Thanks for the post!!!!

Nice digs, congratulations. The "sprocket thingy" looks like an oil burning lamp wick adjuster.

Wow ! The quarter looks like it was abraded with a file , grinder , sander or something on the obverse - but the reverse , what on earth happened there ?

Do you think it was placed on RR tracks and not fully smashed, vibrated around? That's my guess. It is razor sharp on the smashed edges

Good hunt!! Couldn't tell you what happened to that SLQ but, it's in worse shape then my only seated quarter I dug. Lol
She's still a keeper and with some character, Congrats!!

The Mity Midget was a cap pistol made by Esquire Toy Co. (USA); probably in the '50s IMO.
Wish I could tell you more.
Don.....

Flip Mity Midget over and see if the words Esquire Toy Co. are on the ejector plunger.
Gun may be slightly older than the 50s; maybe the 40s.
Don.......

My theory is that they were grinding it down for silver or made a guitar pick out of it.

Looks like your SLQ got wedged between something heavy that was going back and forth almost 180 degrees. That is an oil burning lamp wick adjuster.

Does the round band like object below the chain have any writing on it, almost looks like a band they put on ducks feet to track them...

The round band thing has no writing on it, I think it is a decorative cover for a bottle of perfume. Too big for a bird band.

Ouch ! It hurts to look at that Standing Lib. Nice hunt though.

Congratualtions on the coin shooting and relic hunt! :occasion14:
