Detector(s) used
AT Pro & Ace 250
My first find with my new detector (Radio Shack/Bounty Hunter Discovery 2200) and after about 10 seconds it registered a zinc object. I figured it was a penny so I proceeded to dig it up (a penny saved is a penny earned). When I finally freed it from the ground it was not a penny. It's nothing special but it was before I moved into my house (area code change). Anyway, here is a pic.

Keep swinging...the finds will come...and that tag beats the heck out of my first finds...

Funk,

nice first find. It is special, FIRST FIND.
Hope you have many more interesting finds.

Like AP said, "learn your new machine inside & out."

have a good un........................

That is a cool dog tag. 8) My son and I found 5 at my mom's place - 1927, two 1937s, 1964 and 1975.

Good luck with your new toy.

Way to go, Funk!
It's Fun to find things that will date the approximate time they were lost. With more recent dog tags I've called the number and located the person that owned the dog, telling them where and how I found it. I also offer to mail it to them if they want it. They really seem to appreciate getting a memento of their dearly departed pet back and it's good P.R. for the hobby. Be discreet, tho' Rebecca may be either the dog or the owner.

I recognize that area code! It was the beginning of my phone # before they switched the areas!

That's not a bad idea Funk,Maybe the owner's of the dog tag will appreciate the return and let you hunt there 1700's house....Never know!!!Nice find and good luck in the future...

Very cool find. I have a Radio Shack too and have found lots of goodies with it. You're gonna have some much fun!!

Learn the machine and be patient. Finds will get better. HH Burdie

A neat find! I have two detectors...MXT and the 2200. My daughter hunts with the 2200 when she goes with me and she has found some great stuff with it. ;)

Not bad at all for the first find with such a detector (ie, not the best of the market ;D)
You should have seen the stuff I found the first few months with my military mine detector! I don't even know how all that trash kept me excited.

Seriously, a nice find. Keep looking, you'll definately find much more!
Good Luck

First that is a great find with your detector for your first find! Way to go!

And 2nd this BS of the bounty Hunter being inferior is just that BS. Years ago the company had a bad rep because of some quality control issues. But I will put my Bounty Hunter against any detector out there that costs less than $1000 and I am possitive that it will stack up. I have found coin size objects at a foot deep, large objects at 5 ft deep. I have even found gold flakes with it in the side of a river bank. Don't buy into the crap that a bounty hunter is no good.

Again great find, keep on swinging that bounty hunter and some really good stuff will come your way. And I agree, if you are able to return the dog tag to the owner it would speak highly of the hobby and might yield even better finds elsewhere!
