Afternoon all, hope you guys got out to enjoy that warm spell today.

Today I asked permission for the first time, 1900 home around the corner from my house was bought by a contractor and is being flipped

When I saw they had taken the wooden steps and entrance way off the house I was foaming at the mouth. I had driven by the house for a week hoping to catch one of the guys outside to ask permission. Sure enough I caught the guy just before he got in the house as I was doing another repetitive creepy drive by. I toot the horn and pull over - walk up and asked. he hesitantly respondes, "really? You think there is stuff in this yard? Small talk from there and he says have at it...

Of course - today he was pouring the footings for the new deck so I couldn't detect where the old steps used to be... needless to say was happy enough to catch the guy and be able to detect there.

I only had an hour today so I started around the lonely pine tree in the front yard - bang, ton of signals

I pop a nice plug and when I reach my hand in, 3 pennys fall off the sidewall into my hand. "huh!"
I pulled 20+ pennys (61' - 2000) 2 Greek 10 drachmai (1986, 1998 ) out of the plug and hole - there were still signals in the hole and around the tree but I had to force myself to leave to make it to work - I shall return!

I also dug my first wheatie from a different plug, toastey 1927 [emoji106]

1994 Mexican 1 peso

Modern? yes. But I enjoyed myself and can't wait to spend some more time there, hopefully there are some older goodies after I clean off the top layer

Thanks for stopping in and HH!

I have a feeling you'll do well at this hobby. Keep up the good work. The old stuff will come

That's some good stuff! Congrats

Thanks Showtime, it was a bit awkward lol.

Ahab, Thanks. I would compare this hobby to having the most fun you can have with your pants on :laughing9: . I can't wait to get the ATP up to our place in Lovell, Maine!

Thanks Mr. B hopefully more to come

....but now that I look over at my avatar mabey not lol!!!

Nice......what town you in? I am from Plymouth

Dave I live in Whitman, Do you live in Plymouth currently or FL?

I moved to FL for good in 96...I danced on your high school field in the 1980's, after we wooped your football team

Hahahha! Love it!

Danced on the field eh....

cheerleader captain? (jk!!) [emoji13]

Good choice moving down there, great weather and cost of living is nothing compared to MA as you know

I miss home sometimes.... especially when I am beeping

I look back on my life and can remember a few times when I had butterflies in my stomach and got tongue tied all at the same time. Once was when I asked the very first girl out on a date. Another was the first time I approached a gentleman about metal detecting on his property. She smiled but said no. He made a mean face and said HELL NO!

Fortunately, I didn't give up after either first try. I find now that it's more important to strike up a good conversation with the home owner first and once you've established a rapport with them then give them the pitch. The more you do it the easier it becomes and the better your spiel flows from your lips.

Great job getting your first permission.
