Been detecting for about 4 years and have found lots of clad some silver etc., including halves and morgan dollars. However yesterday I found a 1853 three cent silver and had to tell everyone. I know this is a good find, but is it a common find?

Great finds! If I can help you with posting pics just PM me or come to chat around 8:00-10:00 PM EDT I'm usually there! :D

Great find cooncric ! I just read a article today about them in the new Aug 2005 issue of LOST TREASURE. Seems that they were a unpopular coin and was replaced in 1865 with what they called the Three Cent Nickle.
