hey everybody !! well i finally was able to start metal detecting after a long winter . this is my 2nd time out ever ! my first time was at a local park and yielded about 40 bottle caps and pulltabs !! (now i get what everyone means )>:( and about a dollar in clad! went there as a real practice run . then i was able to secure permission from a few places i know and only hunted the one so far - about half way through at this point , and i have found about $3 in clad - this building has been around since 1920 ish but the town was settled in middle 1700s . i thought for sure i would find silver long before this find - 1849 LARGE CENT !!!! but in my new rookie opinion ..... i think id rather have this !!! im so excited !! let me know what you all think !! thank you everyone for getting me officially addicted to metal detecting !!:icon_thumleft:

Congrats! I'd say you're off to a great start!

very cool first large cent!, welcome to the addiction lol

i like the large cents i just found my best one 2 weeks ago 1846 good going....now go find the silver

thank you !! it is so awsome the feeling of the beep !! and knowing at any hole you could hit something remarkable !!

Congrats on your first copper, nothing like getting something old out of the hole.

congrats on your first great old find. Large cents are hard to come by much harder than silver. Silver will come in time, but you maybe surprised by all the neat finds you make prior to that hunting that old park. Good Luck.

Fantastic find on your 2nd or 1000th time out! Congratulations and HH

CONGRATS on your first Large Cent. Here is to many more coming your way :occasion14:

Nice, I am the opposite, find my share of silver, but no large cent yet
