First relic hunt of 2010 and it's going to be tough to beat
It's been a long time coming, but finally got out to a site I secured permission on a couple months ago. It was a long day searching a very large farm trying to find the location of a Union camp site. The troops were only there a couple days, but there were thousands of them. We started detecting around 9:30 am or so and it wasn't until nearly 2:00pm we stumbled across the first signs of any Civil War activity. But in just the few short hours left in the day I did recover 7 Williams Cleaners, an unfired 3 ringer, an unidentified "worked" bullet, a fired 3 ringer, 2 fired unknown bullets and some field lead. I also found a Silver Officer's Infantry Eagle "I" cuff button. It's damaged and I can't quite make out the back marks yet, but still an awesome find
I think the pot metal piece may be part of a trigger guard and in a different area I found an unidentifed tag of some sort from Huntsville Alabama and what looks like some sort of early Native American tool.
Keep the coils swinging and Happy Hunting to all!!!
