Metal Detecting
Spent the evening detecting at a friends house. Pulled multiple coins. Had a deep 28 on the Nox and pulled this sterling silver ring with hearts out of the dirt. My first ring. We also found a railroad luggage brass tag. Seems to be from around 1890-1910 time period. Overall a pretty darn good day of detecting 😊

Congrats on your first ring !! Best wishes for many more !

You had a great day! Congrats on the silver ring!

The luggage tag is a much more significant find than the ring. Not that many of them found and a real nice piece of history. Please post a close-up.

That's a good day, I found one of those cap gun cylinders last weekend too.

Super dig! Congrats on your first!!:occasion14:

Good ring.

It’s by the Bell Trading Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico founded in 1932. In their early years of operation they used simple marks incorporating a bell, but the mark with a bell sign hanging from an arrow post (as on your ring) didn’t appear until 1961 and was in use until 1972.

They made their name selling Southwestern style jewellery at tourist locations along Route 66 before ultimately merging with other companies to form the Sunbell Corporation in 1969.

Here’s some more pictures of the luggage tag.

Congratulations on the ring. Also congrats on the luggage tag.

Congratulations on the first ring. Silver is always a thrill. The railroad tag is a great find. It is a real piece of history and they are not a common find. Looks like you need to visit that yard a few more times. Great job! Stay safe and keep swingin.

Congrats on your first ring, and that great looking baggage tag. That is a very nice relic.

Nice finds! Congratulations on your first ring! You did well with all your finds! :hello2:

Congratulations on the first of many!

Anyone know what "fill with black oil"means?

Well done on the first ring, may many more find your coil! :occasion14:

We are not sure. The railroad was Vandalia rr which ran through Waveland Indiana and new market Indiana. It went further north to. That railroad company wasn’t in operation long. We still don’t know much about it. We had a guy from the Crawfordsville Indiana railway museum call us about it. He wanted to buy it but my friend doesn’t want to sell it. I had no clue how rare these luggage tags were or I would have kept it and gave him the ring lol. It was his newly bought house so I guess it’s alright. House was built in the 1860s. Nice piece of history that’s for sure. Can’t wait to find another for myself.

Congratulations on your first. I love finding rings. Sterling marks make them more special as apposed to 925.
Looks to be 60s vintage.
