Hello,
I decided yesterday to take a road trip for halves. I have been apprehensive to do since I could hardly afford to lose money on lost gas. Times are tight indeed for us here, but, things are looking up.
We got off to a late start, but headed out anyway. We hit about 5 banks before coming to one that I am a member at. I was informed they had $1000 in the vault. This bank was an hour from home, but 10 minutes from my wife's parents house. Since we were staying there that night, I decided to take $100 and return later or the following day. In that $100 was a Franklin, no other silver. That rocked.
On the road trip, I found about $400 in all in the form of halves. From that, we found 11 40%, 2 1964 Kennedy's, and another Franklin. I was not all that happy with the results, but it did cover gas. We also discovered a 1972 proof in a hand roll. Appears to be undamaged, so this is by far the best proof half I have found.
We managed to make it back to the bank with the 2 boxes 5 minutes before closing. I bought them, and then headed to her parent's home. I finished the first box and was happy to find it with more silver. 4 40% and a WALKER!! Second one from a box, very happy with it. But the icing on the cake was in that second box. 6 rolls into, I was 10 silver up. Elated, I finished the box with a total of 36 40% and 5 1964 90%.
In all, the totals were as follows:
51 40% silver
7 1964 Kennedy's
2 Franklin's
1 Walker
1 1972 proof
1 2006 NIFC
Turned out to be a good road trip. I hope the rest are as good, or better, as this one. Hope you all are raking in the silver!
