found A 1918 merc in my backyard yesterday, along with some other goodies. I was already hooked on metal detecting but nothing beats silver in the hole! Also found a Warner tree tap, button, and a spoon handle with writing I can’t quite make out yet. Seeing all the awesome stuff you all unearth with your detectors is part of what made me take the plunge.

Sweet silver, congrats! :occasion14:

Haven't seen a tree tap posted. Awesome find! Congrats on your first silver as well. May there be many more!

FAN DIME TASTIC! Good luck with the hobby, It's a blast. Many many more silver coming your way and thanks for posting.

Congrats on some nice finds. Lots of great things posted from Vermont, so you are in a very promising area. Be warned though, this is a highly addictive hobby, especially after you make some nice finds such as those.

Cool button and that dime is in great shape.

Oh I know! I’m in for life

Thanks folks!

Cool finds! That mercury dime is a beauty, but then so is any silver. Interesting tree tap, too. Thanks for posting your finds!

Welcome aboard and Congrats for the great finds! You live in one of, if not THE, best regions for detecting, and with so much history here, it's difficult to envision an end to the amazing things we find. Best of luck!

That is why all us detectorist got hooked.Congrats on your first mercury dime .And you are right on a person never knowing what is under their detector coil until they dig it.

Very true I feel fortunate to have such a rich history beneath my feet, the potential keeps me going no matter what! Good luck to you as well :)

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Spoon handle turned out to be what I believe is nickel silver based on how it’s cleaning up, looks like someone hand carved initials into it W B P. Hopefully I can trace it back to an occupant from my old house.

"nothing beats silver in the hole".....you may change your mind when you find gold in the hole......or a real cool relic. :icon_thumleft:
