Finally, For those monitoring our progress. My son and I found our first silver coin. A 1944 Mercury dime. After two dixie cups full of grungy regular coins and a few wheat pennies, finally hit pay dirt. Registered a 71 on my XLT. Just like regular dimes we have found.
Amazing how shiny the thing is it just jumped out of the hole. Looks like it just came from the bank. It was buried about 3 inches deep-on an island, in the middle of a lake. The lake was created in the late 40's and fisherman have camped there ever since. A lot of trash and a lots of modern coins. Best of all a new place to hunt because our beach location is almost under water (back to normal lake level) Found an arrowhead too. Pics to follow
Appreciate the past tips and advice.
