I took my Ace 250 out on the river today to check out a site across from an old plantation. There was some brickwork on an oxbow that I have been waiting to search for a while. The site was fairly clean from the usual fisherman's trash so I searched all metal for the most part. The ring gave a dime tone and took about 15 minutes to find. As I was digging, my hole was filling up with mud but my vibra probe kept bumping into something.I wound up with about 2 square feet of mud spread around the ground and finally found a tiny copper slug. Checked again with the Ace, the hole was empty finally and got another signal from the mud pie so I Vibra probed handful after handful of mud until the ring showed itself. This had to be the worst dig/best find so far. The ring is marked "COIN" and broke when I got home and cleaned it! grrrr! Oh well, still a treasure to me.
