I'm in upstate NY and while I wouldn't call it warm here, it's not as cold as it usually is this time of year So I decided to give Basssman (Ray) a call and see if he wanted to detect an old corn field with me.
Ray wanted to get out so we met up and got to the field. Good targets were few and far between and after about 2 and a half hours the only thing that we dug worth keeping was a wheat penny. About 20 minutes after the penny, I got an iffy 17-19 signal on my Equinox. After moving about 2 inches of dirt, I saw a very small black thing that I thought might be a button or a flattened bullet. I picked it up and took a closer look and could see the word "half" on it. I got excited and called Ray over.
I had just found my first seated coin, an 1854 seated half dime! Certainly a Bucket Lister for me and a great start to 2019!
