theres a broken shank on the back where it used to be like many of my flat buttons, I don't have my phone on me but will post the back alter

Hard to tell the age with the broken shank but that is a beautiful piece of silver you have there! I just enlarged it and the detail on that is really really nice. Somebody with money probably had that. I would do some serious hunting and see what else is hiding there. Congrats on a fantastic recovery, Abe
 

If you post it in the what is it forum maybe someone can nail it down for you. I have to tell you the more I look at that the more I fall in love with it. That is one of the prettiest dug pieces of silver I have seen. Very unique as well. You just don't see those
 

That late 18th - early 19th C Button is 'silver' plated. However, although they are descibed as 'silver' I doubt they are.

It is however in very good condition as most of them loss most or all of the plating. Congrats.
