Didn't have any luck with silver in my colonial woodland sites this year, so I decided to switch it up and hit up a more modern site I sniffed out last year. I was seeing mostly prohibition era bottles so I skipped over it until now, but decided to do a quick hunt to maybe score some quick silver. Hunted it on a long lunch break, about an hour, and ended up with 2 modern silvers and something I didn't expect to dig in Connecticut, a 1935 Vatican City 5 lira. Apparently one of the scarce dates, 20,000 minted. Picked up a 1907 dog tag and an old mexican silver ring as well.

It was definitely fun digging in a more target rich area for a change, the woodland sites have been stingy lately. Still, I'm not giving up on those sweet colonial silvers just yet, picked up some tick spray and heading out to the woods tomorrow, those old silver *******s aren't getting off the hook that easily.

Nice Silva's for your efforts. Congrats on a good outing.

That's a nice coin, but I really like that '07 Dog tag.

Wow people collect those dog tags cool rare find and ring I would not have came back from lunch that day lol keep ripping. Tommy

I'll definitely revisit this place for another hunt, it's just hard to get away from the older spots, especially since I've been researching potential sites over the winter and it takes a while to locate them and find hotspots especially with how fast the woods get overgrown and tick infested once the weather warms up.

Interesting about the dog tags, I recall finding another one last year, no clue what I did with it, will check my miscellaneous piles. They always seem to have a little design on em, acorn, leaf etc.

Awesome finds, congrats! :occasion14:

Nice finds. You probably found some good Catholic boy's pocket piece there. I'd take it over a Washington any day.

Don't know how that beauty ended up in CT, but Congrats on a sweet find!

Oddcoins collects old tags and trades silver coins for em too

What I love about this board is getting to see coins I will likely never see in the wild. This Pius coin is a great example of that. Thank you.
