My days hunt was rewarded with my first silver quarter. It's a 1930 standing liberty. It was 4 inches down and loud on my omega 8000. It rang in at an 89 just like a clad quarter. I'm stoked and would like y'all's advice on how to clean it. The eagle side is pretty crusty.

AWESOME! I was so excited when I found my first one this year. Enjoy it, get out there and find some more.

Awesome find. I have yet to find one, congrats!

Congrats! ...other than soap and water, I would leave it as is.

Id clean gently w soap n water only, dont rub off the patina, just my opinion. Awesome find btw!!

That's an awesome first quarter for sure!
I'd rather find a nice Standing Liberty than a Barber any day.

For cleaning, a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush under running water should do the trick.
I'd just leave it at that.

However, if you really want it to shine, use baking soda between a wet finger & thumb with your
quarter in between and GENTLY rub the quarter. I said gently LOL.

Great coin! I'm looking for another SLQ- you were lucky to find one with the date intact. Best of luck.

Thanks guys! That's a rush I wanna feel again. Lol. Thanks for the advice on cleaning too. I saw an aquachigger video where he boiled a pan of water with tin foil and baking soda to clean silver. I am hesitant though as I don't want to ruin my first slq. I think soap is as wild as I need to get with my pride and joy. Haha.
Happy hunting guys!

My first coin back in 1986 was a no date standing liberty with a Garrett freedom ace! Needless to say I was hooked forever! Nice find congrats!

Don't rush to clean it.... if you want to clean a quarter go buy one. Keep your treasure as is for a while.

I'd avoid a toothbrush or baking soda rubbing. Just rinse gently under the faucet and maybe use some mild soap. Don't rub it if you can help it. As some have said, once it's polished, it's changed forever.

That is a great find. My hearty congratulations to you.

Nice find. Personally I use an ultrasonic jewerly cleaner on my finds. None have been crusty though just dirty. Cleans it out real nice without touching it to leave blimishes. Etc.

Can't say it makes any I've done look weird or funky either so just my opinion.

Congrats still looking for mine.

Very nice
My silver quarters have only been Washingtons

Really nice quarter, and with a readable date! Congrats

Thanks fellas. I'll put up some pics of the back tomorrow!

Good Job!! Congrats on the first!!

Congrats on the great find, especially with it being your first silver quarter! That series is my absolute favorite, so I look forward to seeing them found. May you find MANY more, ALL with dates!

Sweet SLQ
I still never have dug one .
IMO . Just an easy rinse under water & I sometimes use one of my Wife,s makeup brushes on stubborn dirt.
As many have said clean it as little as possible.
Davers

Very nice find.
