I decided to try to hunt the woods at my in-laws property. My wife said there was an old foundation in the woods and gave me some directions. I never found the old foundation, but I hunted around the property. The ground was still frozen in spots, but I was able to find some areas that were fairly thawed out. I had a glimmer of hope when I found an old spoon that was marked Sterling Plate Co. When I saw Sterling I thought it was actually sterling, but I must be plated. I can't find anything on the Sterling Plate Co. on the web. Ended up with $1.23 in clad, 4 golf balls, 2 spoons 1 was stainless steel, 2 Easton bow hunting arrows and a bunch of trash. I was glad just to be able to dig. I tried out my new Kellyco Razor Edge Gator Digger. I was pleased with its performance. This morning I wake up to 20 degrees and almost 2" of fresh snow on the ground.

Whenever I find spoons I'm usually near a foundation. Maybe they filled the cellar hole in. I listen for the iron. More and more iron as I get nearer to the hole.

Thats Cool that You Got Out , I just started a few weeks ago here near Endicott, N.Y. / I found a butter knife in Our front yard marked TUDOR PLATE it came out looking all Silver but the blade is Bubbling so it is Plated . After looking for a while on the WWW I got the right info on it / It's Oneida Silver Co. and the Queen Bess pattern. Made right here in N.Y. at the O.S. Co. My point is that it may be a production name from a Co. ? like mine is... Probably not Oneida but Keep Looking ?

you know what, after this freakin winter, I was happy to dig foil all day long - as long as i can get out! best of luck.
