First time out with Deus

First off, no gold or silver. I was in a fairly new park and the tot lot had recently been changed over to wood chips. it was clean except for a couple modern coins.

So then I worked the grass area and started finding coins--all deep. Nothing on the surface, so I thought that was good because whoever went before me didn't get the deep ones. And a few on edge.

After all the horror stories I've heard I developed a phobia. I'm here to say none of it bothered me in the least bit. Yes, I found some can slaw and a couple screw caps, but first time out I was digging most everything. But i started hearing the aluminum and even the can slaw I knew it was suspect before I dug it. So really feel good about things. Didn't really get much time but already think I have made big progress. Now I need to go to an older area and find me some of that yeller stuff.

I was just using the standard coin program in the Andy Sabisch book. He has another one for Deep/Old Coins that would probably work great in that park, but not sure there is anything deeper than what I was hitting. The park isn't that old, like late 1960's. All the signals were loud and strong. Most all were six inches deep or more. Might be some fill added at one time. Got more snow coming. Ground still frozen down deep, but the upper layer was nice digging.

I was reading the Sabisch book and when i got the to chapter on test garden I kinda skipped over it because the ground was frozen and couldn't even make one. But I came to my senses before i went to the park and placed several trash targets and coins out to test the tones. Really made a good decision there. And yeah, I really like the Deus audio. i was calling pull tabs and can slaw, dimes, zincs, and quarters my first time out. Not there yet with the screw caps, but I realize they give a loud and big response. So need more work there. Previous detector is AT Gold.

I like the you tube videos but somewhere the sound quality is lost. I use the wired FX-02 headphones and the sound is just much sharper than what comes out of my computer. I'd say don't rely on a video when it comes to sound tones.

Never under estimate a new park! A lot of new parks are still built on old land. If the top soil goes deep.......anything is possible.
