Well I finally broke down and got new detector to replace my old Whites Quantum XT. I have heard a lot about the extra depth people have been getting with this machine.
I did the usual back yard testing for the first few hours then went out to an old mission that I have pounded pretty hard over the years.
I didn't find anything very deep but was able to pick pick up a nice sterling ring a 1945 war nickle and about a buck in change.
So far I like it pretty well. Pinpoints better than I expected. Just have to spend some time getting used to it.

I would say that is good start with a new machine!

Well, that's a nice start with your SE WYO1...

I've been hunting with a buddy who switched from a DFX to the SE.
I think he's doing well with it..

It's kind of like a relationship you know? If you want to get to know someone well, you've got to spend plenty of time with them....

Good digging to you!

Really nice ring! Way to go on you're first time out with a new machine. Did you find these items in places where you have been over with your old machine?

Nice silver!

Doesn't it sound beautiful through the EXP?

Congratulations!

WTG for a new detector and right out of the box. The more you use the XP the more you'll wonder how you lived so long with out it. HH

Thanks for the comments. I found the ring and nickle in a ball field that I have detected quite a bit. It's not hunted out but the find are getting harder to come by. Thats one of the reasons I wanted a new detector. Now I need to learn how to coax the most from the new SE.

Great finds WYO1!
That ring's a beaut!

I own the SE and actually love it. When I received my first one on April 21 of this year, I was very vocal about my dislikes and many heard me as they often do! In fact I like the SE so much I have another being delivered tomorrow as a third backup. :)

I have found for maximum depth AMM is the only way to go and do not be afraid to turn SENSITIVITY to MAX 32 and GAIN 8 to 10 no matter what anyone tells you and move slow but methodical. You'll also need to invest in a good set of headphones with adjustable volume. The Grey Ghost NDTs or Ultimates are a good choice. My most favorite coil? Excelerator's 17.5; an awesome loop.
