I finally got around to regaining permission to a field that my great-great grandpa owned back around the time of the Civil War . I had found the area where i thought the house was a couple years ago but only went once and only found a .36 pistol bullet and a bunch of broken china .
There had been a lot of terraces built up near the spot so I’m thinking that most of any good stuff it’s buried . I did find the brass piece that my dad thought was on a sharpening stone . ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1520109136.028599.webp
I gave up on that corner of the property and drove around the corner to where a friend had eyeballed a holed 1858 dime years ago.
My first signal was this V nickel . ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1520109283.268698.webp
Since I’m hoping to take my dad back with me Friday i only made one big circle around the top of the hill . On the west side i get a nice 81 vdi and out rolls this clod with the rim sticking out. Hope to go back Friday and hit it good .

Hello Boonieguy. Those are some nice finds...I really like the sharpening stone thing.

Hope you and your Dad do even better on Friday. Good Luck out there. C9

Congrats on the V nickel, Barber, and cool old brass relic. Old US coins are cool. They screwed it up when they started using dead presidents for the image. Nice hunt.

Congrats! Those aren't easy to find! :occasion14:

Thanks guys . I still haven’t found an old internet example of the brass piece yet . Have to do some more digging.
