The first time I put batteries in my new F75, I noticed some play in the two exposed batteries, such that the contact at the positive ends was intermittent. This results in the machine shutting off. I did not mess with the foam inserts in the battery compartment. This can vary if I press down on the plastic cover once it is clipped in. Has anyone else had this experience and can you offer any solutions? I thought about slightly stretching the springs to make the batteries more snug. Or finding a brand of AA that is a millimeter or two longer than what I've got.....but they should all be the same size in theory.

You say you have a new F-75? Who did you buy it from? That problem and several others were supposed to have been fixed
by FT. Does your F-75 have the gasket mod. If it is new and you don't have all of the above I would call FT and tell them you want to send it back and get it fixed

I have ran into this with people many times. My 75 is not upgraded. I am useing Panasonic Lithiums and have no problems. I would give anything to see a 75 that has this problem so i know first hand. Is there anyway you can take pics of the batterys in the machine? Just a shot in the dark here but on the pos side is it flat or does it have nipples?

Have not found that to be a problem with mine. It's 11 months old and I did have the upgrade done, but never has a contact problem before that.

I seem to have fixed the problem by doing three things. Stretching the springs slightly, being very careful about battery alignment, and not pressing down too hard on the battery door. The latter issue seemed to separate the top two batteries enough from the positive terminals to cause outages. I haven't had any problems now in over 10 hours of hunting. It's a great machine.
