Fisher ID Excell problem???

I have a Fisher ID excell and while using it, all of the sudden the numbers 88 appear and sometimes flash. I first thought there was build up in the coil cover and cleaned it and started using it again. Later the 88 showed again and would not go away, even after turning it off. As soon as the detector was turned back on the 88 would show and stay. A while later after sitting, I start it and it works again! What is happening here I have had to cut two trips short due to the 88 dilema and am getting frustrated. I love the hobby, but I do not use the detector but on an occassional day here and there. Thanks

Try a set of new batteries. Also make sure the contacts are clean. If it still happens send it for repair, don,t mess around.
