Was just getting ready to log in to Treasurenet when my 17 yr old daughter yelled, "Mom! Guess what's here!" My highly anticipated first ever metal detector, a Garrett 1350, and accessories had arrived.
Within five minutes, we had it assembled and were out in the front yard just to play with it for a couple of minutes. (Directions? We don't need not stinkin' directions!)
Within 1 minute, I found a little matchbox truck with one wheel missing. She was barefoot and started complaining that her feet were getting cold, but she started playing with it while I was digging the truck, and got hit after hit along the driveway.
We then found two quarters in quick succession (1979 and 1981),then the dreaded pull tab, two nails, and one 1989 penny and a second penny of indeterminate age. Funny how the rush of anticipation after we dug up the first quarter must have warmed up her feet.
Also found a piece of brick, probably from when our house was built in 1958, and a shiny rock that my daughter has decided she has to keep - I swear she is part magpie! LOL
We came in and had dinner, and she asked if we could go out because she had the bug. I thought she meant the teasure bug. No such luck - she wanted to DRIVE. Watch out for a silver Ford Taurus if you are on Northern Virginia roads this weekend.
We'll watch the video and read the owner's manual tonight - are going to a 150+ year old house to hunt tomorrow. Will post pics from that tomorrow.
