Flag Pin

While hunting a ghost town on the Colorado/New Mexico border I found this pin. Any ideas on what country or state is represented on the pin? I was thinking Texas (lone star) but have no clue.

Cool pin...not sure what the flag is for. I did a search on google images of 'flag with cross and star'. I scrolled down and found two examples of the flag but both were fictional. One was on some alternative history website ann the other was something called conworld.
