I was late getting to the flea market because I hit so many yard sales on the way. After making my way through almost the whole flea market, I saw 2 ladies selling jewelry and household trinkets. I stopped to look at the jewelry and one of the ladies told me it was all costume. I saw a box that plainly said sterling silver on it and I asked if the necklace inside was the original one that came in the box. One of the ladies said it was and the other said that all jewelry was $1.00, EVEN THOUGH THE BOX HAD $5 WRITTEN ON IT. I thought I would take a chance for a buck and purchased the necklace. When I got home I opened the box and the neclace was marked .925.
I had never seen the flea market this crowded but somehow everyone else missed this necklace that was plainly marked as sterling silver. Sometimes one just gets lucky. Wish I had this kind of luck when I metal detect.

It happens . ALmost every time i sort jewelry i find sliver someone missed . It makes me laugh when its me . Several times my dad has put the sliver in the 1.00 junk costume box . Lucky i normally check it before we go to the flea market to sell . Before anytime we go to sell We all sit and sort a 1.00 and 2.00 box of jewelry . Rules are marks are checked with a loop and all marked non gold and silver go in the 2.00 bin . All gold and silver are pulled to be sold to the buyer i work with . She gives me a good price and is willing to buy my total lot of jewelry for good prices most days .

Nice score, but it is always good to have a magnet with you. I have bought many pieces of jewelry that were marked .925 and ended being plated, both gold and silver.Happy hunting.........Scott.
