Looks to me like a damaged Flint Celt. A Hoe and a Flint Axe typically have flared bits due to hafting. Hardstone Axes come in all bit types.......Nice find!!!!....................GTP



PS. the damage is definitely ancient and looks to be from usage. A off angle hit possibly........
 

I would call it a multipurpose tool. Spokeshave, knife, celt, scraper.
 

Thanks for the comments. I find a lot of rocks made of this flint. But this one has more flaking then most. I think it is a general purpose tool. My computer had a virus and I have spent the past few days fixing it, so I am a little behind on viewing the new posts. Looks like some better weather here in Ohio for the next few days. It rained yesterday so I am going out today. Thanks again for the review!!
