Hard to tell the material from the pictures, at first I thought it was quartzite (which I don't think exist in Florida, well I didn't find any) but looks to be coral.

It is quartzite . This point is very river worn.

Near the gulf?

Suwannee, maybe 20 miles from the Gulf. I call it a Hernando Point. Let me know if you disagree.

It's configuration is more like Putnam or similar stemmed form rather than a basal notched, thin Hernando. Your's is more likely a knife. Hernando is a dart (spear tip) I believe.

If he found it in a North Florida river it could be quartzite.

Map of the Suwannee River in Florida . The river starts in S, Georgia & was a trade route.

Putnam, Cypress Creek, or similar. Definitely not a Hernando. Unusual material, shows the NA's had a good trade network.
