Found this painting at a thrift shop this week. Wondering if it could be a Folk Art painting, and if so value. There is writing in the painting but I had difficulty reading it. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, in advance.

Hello Carole,

Welcome to the TNet. Looks weathervaney to me. Have you used your magnifying glass on the lettering? Perhaps if you get good macro shots of it, someone will be able to decipher. It's just too murky an image for me. What's with the doe eye?

The framing looks 1960's vintage to me. What is the composition of the little wall protector?

thanks for the welcome and the weathervane connection. Found this in a quick search: Folk Art Painting Horse Weathervane back of by rusticrevivals No doe eye, paint has peeled off in several areas. I looked closer at the writing (probably need to photograph with macro lens) and in the left hand side it looks like maybe gabriel Hawthorne 18__ - 1863 or 1813. On the right hand side.. From Rocky's or & __________ Thunder....

No signature, and the wall protector is a light wood.

Again, thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
