Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

I met B|lker this morning at the 1830's CW house. He swung his Ace 250 for a few hours then had to leave. I did a 5 hour hunt today, and came up with a few keepers. I got a signal up near an oak tree root. I dug what I was hoping was going to be a large cent, which is a coin I've never found yet. I was so excited I got my camera & took a few shots to document the find. I put it in my pouch and didn't look at it until I got home. Turns out I got "The Royal" treatment. It was a token, not a coin. :'( :'( :'(
I was so looking forward to joining the LC Club, but it was not meant to be yet. Maybe in 08'.
Anyways, I did find some neat relics too.
Here are my finds for today:

* Old token with the following on it:
(Front) "Excellence Award Merit Superiority"
(Back) "Presented to a good boy wearing a Royal Brand suit. None better."
Any idea how old this token is?

*Oval piece with lady wearing armor and a winged helmet. Lady Mercury? ;D

*1947 Dog vaccine tag.

*Two buckles.

*Two bullets - one is an Enfield I believe.

*Oval decorative piece.

*Part of a large button. Would have been approx. 30mm.

*Old lipstick case. Has a crown figure on the top.

*Part of an arrowhead - found in the same hole as some foil I dug.

*A 3" tall ornate piece that I'm hoping is CW related. Possible part of some horse gear decor?
It has four clips on the back.
Any idea on this piece?

* Asst'd relics: spoon piece , "10" play money token, large spike, etc.

That's all Folks. My arm is killing me. I need a break. :'( ;D
Thanks for looking,
MM

Re: Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

Great looking finds, I was recovering a coin at my cabin when I recovered an arrowhead out of the same hole. I was shocked. But I don't know why just less then 1,000 feet there were several very good producing fields that I found several hundred arrowheads out of over the years.

Thanks Gypsy. I thought of you when I dug that Mercury Girl. I know you like that stuff. It will make a nice display with those art noveau (spelling?) pieces I found earlier.
I had a picture taken of me in action, so the TN folks don't think I'm really a drag queen. (except at night) ;D

Nice relics MM! Love the Lady Mercury and token. Very nice photos, too. Keep digging!

Re: Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

I do like the attention to the pants thing from gypsy.
Glad to see you wearing them too ::)

Awesome finds after my departure.
What happened to the wheat and screw thing with the triangle on top you found.

The chunk of metal i found near the back of the property looks like a meteor to me.
Are the magnetic?

Re: Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

Congrats on a great hunt!! Have to love thos relics!!

Re: Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

the plate shard looks to be early / mid 1800's era

The wheat turned out to be a memorial penny (I told you my eyes were bad), and the large screw thing is getting electrolysis overnight.

I don't think meteors are magnetic.

Almost all meteorites are attracted to a magnent after all, they have to be very dense to survive going through the atmosphere and most have some metal content.

Cool finds Doug!

Re: Fooled by "The Royal" - Token & relics

Montana Jim informed me that the Mercury lady is actually Minerva - Roman Goddess of war.
Here's a few pix from the web.

Thanks Jim.
