fools gold will it give a signal

my neighbor showed me a piece about the size of a driveway rock he found in his garden, he must have put it on his bench grinder it really shined with streaks of gold and silver with the gold color more brilliant.

will a md give a signal on fools gold, or maybe if the detector will give a signal on such an item is it a pretty good bet the find is a good one?

Fools gold is pure iron most of the time and very conductive.If it cracks,crumbles or crunches with a knife you have found the pesky mineral.Test with a magnet too.l!!Tons a au 2 u 2-John
