foreign coins

I realize that most people here look for and are excited by domestic coins, and are interested in ancient coins or coins made of valuable metals, my question is, are there coins from other countries that aren't ancient, but intrinisically valuable as collectors items?

Well for what it worth. I collect coins based not on value but on appeal. I I like the design I will buy it. I do have a price limit. Now there are many beautiful coins out there that are worth only there face value.

A couple from Australia would be the 1930 penny, worth about 28k Aud in only fine condition. Another would be the 1920 Sydney gold sovereign which starts at about 97k Aud . Or maybe the Holey Dollar and or dump which start at 35k for the dollar and 5k for the dump.
