Fort union Leaf? or Snail

While hunting in my favorite fossil leaf site I came across this. I don't know if it's a leaf or snail. It's got quite a spiral to it. It was in Fort Union layers in central Montana. Notice the leaf with it. Any ideas? Salvageon

I am not absolute on your item, but it may be the sworl/spiral end to a fern head.
