Thanks for looking !

That's a strange piece. It has a lot of wear, like it was worn or carried for a long time. The symbols around it will be the key. . Tony

the side with the figure without walking staff almost looks like a demon with a dragon out of leg?

You may not want to keep that in your house... That thing creeps me out just looking at it.

found a woman's class ring today and may have a return ring to report soon or 7.1 grams of 10 k gold to sell, I'd say a lucky day.

On the side with the staff, he looks like Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. You might want to search under 'bronze doubloon.'

Interesting find :)

I've sent the info to Harvard and they are looking into it. Just got a message on it. Will keep you informed.
"Dear Mr. SXXXX

Thank you for writing. We will need to look into this, and hopefully we’ll have some information to impart later this week or next.

May I ask you to provide a dimension, such as the diameter?

Many thanks,
Monique Goodin

The Hole on it looks fairly clean. Perhaps suggesting it was drilled rather than punched? Didn't see any metal push protruding on either side of the hole.

Just received this.
"Thank you for providing more information.

Please note that we cannot appraise or authenticate art, but we can provide some general information. The large size of the medal makes it more likely to be modern. It depicts Greek satyrs, horse-tailed followers of the wine god Dionysos, and typical Greek filler motifs in the background, but we do not know of an ancient parallel. We will see if we can ask another expert. If we find out any other information, I will let you know.

Regards,
Monique"

if they come back with more I'll post it

I have to agree that that the one side is Dionysus with the pine cone staff (fertility). Since it is "exactly 2 inches" I would also agree that it is a modern adaptation.
