Pickens slim again today but managed to get a few keepers. Among all the iron, shotshells, copper and rivets (one the smallest I have ever found), I managed to pull a thimble and a small sash buckle. But the highlight of the day was when the frizzen popped out. I wonder if the rest of the gun is there? Any idea what rifle or musket it went with? Enjoy.

cool relics, but what is a frizzen ???

A frizzen is what the flint strikes to make a spark on a flintlock rifle or pistol.

Nice little relic there!

RPG,

Looking at the shape of the one you found, I'd say possibly a Brown Bess.

Great looking finds. Yes, you have to wonder where the rest of the gun is.

Thanks everybody. I will be going back to see if I can find more of it.
