I went to a school I don't hunt often, and now I remember why!
Tons of trash, and not the good kind! Nothing but Lincoln's, 6 of them, a little green gun made in Hong Kong, a fuse made in Mexico, and trash, even the zincs were reading as trash!

I guess some kid buried his toy gun on the way to school and forgot where on the way home. this was a Jr high in a bad area.

The quarters, dimes and 6 cents on the right were from the sports field that keeps giving up quarters. I hunted an hour in each spot.

I do have two metal lumps I am going to clean up and see what they maybe.

Hope all you MD'ers are having good fortune! image.webp

at least you are able to get out and detect, even if it is the less desirable stuff but the gun is still cool

Thanks dirtlooter. I've gotten a little spoiled this summer with all the quarters! Lol!
Back to the zinc mines!

Guns and cash, it doesn't get much better then that on a hunt! :laughing7:
Nice finds BB ... you never when a silvers going to show up!

Dave

Hmm, some kid packin' heat? Thank god you took that away from him/her...heh.

Nothing wrong with a 45

All that clad adds up, over time! Taking all that trash out of the ground is a good thing to!

Yep, at least the kid had good taste in toy guns. Good ole 1911 ha ha. Good hunt.

Been there, done that, saw the movie. What's worse, I went back for more. :)

At least you were out and enjoying. I'm having a little gumption starvation.
I'll eventually be going out again but not until I feel like I WANT to go.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone!
AT lest I wasn't dodging bullets and running! Lol!
I probably saved the kid from being expelled and arrested, of course I could probably have been arrested myself, life is crazy nowadays, kids can't even play it may "offend" someone!

Yep, any day detecting is enjoyable! No inter net is hard! Lol!

I have been doing a lot of coin cleaning in my down time, I have decided to make my corroded zinc pay for a new coin book. If there's any copper on them it shines, if not the zinc core just turns black. I soak them in lemon juice until I can see copper, rinse drain then soak then in CLR. They come out shinny....what's left of them. I only use on zinc that is totally corroded. Never use this on any coin that maybe valuable. This I the before pic.

I do use the CLR on the concreted wheats at times, otherwise I would be using some form of grinder!

Hmm that sounds interesting on the zinc cents. I have been throwing them away mostly.

I just CLR'd. This bunch, here's the after pic. On the right, I left a few encrusted ones as is, and the row of black under it is the zinc core with n copper left. image.webp

Ms. Beep..cool finds! and yes..the zincolns can be a nuisance, as most of the time I dig them only to eliminate the signal in case there's something better deeper, and toss the crusty ones when I clean my pouch out. I just yesterday..at an 1850's house that I have been hunting on and off (keep getting rained out), and got a HUGE surprise !! At these older home sites I dig about every repeatable signal as even a non-coin find is usually a toy or a trinket of some sort. Buuuuttt...yesterday..almost done, had been hunting about 90 minutes and about 25 feet from the car, get a scratchy, bouncy signal..indicating a zincoln or a memorial., and too bouncy for a wheatie. But..at over 6 inches down..hmm..so I cut a plug, and at 6-7 inches down..my FIRST SILVER QUARTER!!!..1943 Washington in excellent condition..but still wondering why it rang up so iffy..and very soon found out why..BECAUSE THERE WAS A 1898 BARBER QUARTER BESIDE IT!! WOOHOO!! Yes I did TWO happy dfances, and was glad I was in the rurals because I screamed like a little girl caught in a spider web..There is more to the story, but I am going to try to post the pics, as I have not done yet. But Beeps..thanks for sharing, great stuff! hopefully soon you will get to see my finds on here!...ddf

Interesting technique. Still, I'm a bit ashamed of the coinage that we call American nowadays. Looking rotten to the core. :dontknow:

That it does WHADIFIND. That's why I'm trying hard to get what I can of it back in circulation of some sort. It may not be as "coins" but I'll find a way!

Hopefully I catch your post ddf . I still am internet less.
